History

Adele first mentioned that she was recording a “special project” in September 2011 in an interview for The Jonathan Ross Show, leading the media to the opinion that she would record the theme for the film [5] . Later, in April 2012, she told NRJ that she would release a new single by the end of 2012, but he would not be part of the new album [6] . Rumors continued to spread in September 2012, when she was noticed at the Abbey Road studio, where Thomas Newman recorded the music for the film Skyfall [7] .

According to rumors, the song was originally called “Let The Sky Fall”. In September 2012, OneRepublic singer, Ryan Tedder, wrote on his Twitter account that he had heard the title track of the film and that it was "the best theme of the James Bond film in his life." Adele's press agent, Paul Moss, also mentioned the song in his microblog. Both later deleted messages [8] . Information about the cover of the single was leaked to the network later, but Adel’s involvement in the project was not officially confirmed until October 1 [3] . Skyfall was released on October 5, 2012 at 0:07 (GMT + 1).

Composition

After Adele approached songwriting, she attracted Paul Epuort as her co-author and producer. The song was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in London with the orchestra of J. A.C. Redford. With the announcement that she will perform the title theme of the film, Adele admitted that she was alarmed by this project because of the pressure involved in creating the theme [9] . The authors of the song were awarded the Golden Globe Award for the best song in the framework of the 70th Golden Globe Award ceremony and received the Academy Award in the same category.
