Dish of the Day is the second studio album of German pop rock band Fool's Garden , released in 1995 . The album contained well-known songs of the group, such as: “ Lemon Tree ”, “ Wild Days ” and “Pieces”. According to Billboard magazine, more than 250,000 copies of the album were sold in Germany alone [2] .

About the album
According to bassist Thomas Mangold, the success of the group is based on the fact that you can perform all the songs on an acoustic guitar . This is a sure sign that the compositions work without any wonders and effects. As Billboard’s Wolfgang Spar noted, Fool's Garden’s music is a colorful British pop guitar with explicit references to the great traditions of the genre that were developed by The Beatles and never surpassed. Intercord label CEO Robert Collisch believed the biggest benefit to Fool's Garden was that they were a real band, not just a project. According to Intercord, Dish of the Day became a bestseller in Germany and Europe , selling over 600,000 copies [3] .
“ Lemon Tree ” became the biggest hit in the band’s homeland in 1996 and was sold in a print run of 500,000 copies. Both the single and the record sold best in Austria and Switzerland . Fool's Garden vocalist Peter Freudentaler explained how he wrote the songs: “I prefer to write the lyrics in English , because it gives me more freedom to express myself. I select words by ear based on their sound quality, as an artist chooses colors. That's how I find my inspiration for the song. ” Together with Volker Hinkel, he admitted that Sting and The Beatles influenced their work most. In the same 1996, Fool's Garden won a contest held by a network of C&A department stores that were looking for the right talent for creating videos aimed at young men. The participants were invited to give an interview , after which the song “ Wild Days ” was presented, but there was almost no response [2] .
