At the European Judo Championship , held in Istanbul , he won a gold medal, defeating the Georgian Levan Zhorzholiani in the final.
At the 2008 Olympics , held in Beijing , participated in the weight category up to 100 kg . Having defeated American Adler Volmar in the first round, at the next stage he lost to Kazakhstan's Askhat Zhitkeev .
At the next Olympics in 2012 , which took place in London , he also took part in the category up to 100 kg . However, at the first stage, he lost to the judoka from South Korea, .
