“Shal” ( Kazakh: Shal , Russian: The Old Man ) is a film by the Kazakhstani director Yermek Tursunov , based on Ernest Hemingway ’s novel “The Old Man and the Sea ”. The premiere of the picture took place on October 11, 2012 [2] . The film is the second part of the trilogy conceived by the director. The first film was the film " Daughter " [3] .

Content
Story
The film takes place in the countryside in modern Kazakhstan. The main character, an old man, about to drive the sheep into the pasture, got lost in the steppe. In an attempt to find the right path, he runs into a pack of wolves several times.
Meanwhile, his grandson goes looking for grandfather with the help of neighbors and rescue services.
