As a continuation of Starr's collection, Blast from Your Past (1975), includes the best songs from albums from Ringo's Rotogravure (1976) to Old Wave (1983) and reflects Starr's collaboration with the labels Polydor , Atlantic , Portrait and RCA during this period. The album was released on CD and vinyl disc.

Starr Struck: Best of Ringo Starr, Vol. 2 published in the USA only. Since the Old Wave album in the United States was not officially sold, for the first time on this collection four tracks with Old Wave were presented to American listeners.
The album did not participate in the charts. The printing of new editions of this edition of the album was discontinued in the 1990s.
