Illustration for the book “100 Fables” published by Verizotti ( Cento favole morali , Venice, 1577)
As a painter, he worked in the style of Titian. His landscapes , almost all of small size, were distinguished by excellent color and were decorated with carefully painted figures. In addition to painting, he was well-versed in literature and had a good syllable: his friend Titian turned to him when he needed to write to princes and nobles .
He published in 1577 Aesop ’s fables with 110 engravings from his own drawings called “100 Fables” (Cento favole morali).
At the end of his life, he joined the monastic order, but was engaged in painting until his death.
