Contribution
With great interest Nikolai Semenovich was engaged in "reconnaissance" of the origin of various toponyms of his native Ozyorsk Territory . He also investigated the origin of the name of the city of Ozery (originally the village of Ozerki), putting forward the version that the etymology of the word is not connected with the presence of lakes in the district, but with the word "ozira". Detailed explanations of this hypothesis can be found in the work of N. S. Piryazev, “My city is sharp-sighted” (Zarya newspaper, No. 1, 2007, p. 4) (inaccessible link) .
It was thanks to the efforts of Nikolai Piryazev that the inhabitants of the city of Ozyory began to be called Ozerki. Previously, there was the word "puddle", which was especially inconvenient to apply to the female population. If about a man one could say “pond” (which is not too harmonious, but bearable), then the feminine word form was simply not used because of her clumsiness (pond? Pond?). Love for the word and a reverent attitude towards it prompted N.S. Piryazev to make proofs in such an important vocabulary of his fellow countrymen. Nikolay Semyonovich told all the ups and downs of this story to his fellow countrymen on the pages of the Zarya newspaper in the article “How We Become Ozerchi” .

On the Oka, buoys were installed along the banks, and at night they placed kerosene lanterns so that ships could walk along the river. I remember how I had to persuade my father to take me with him.
