Crater Description
To the west-northwest of the crater is the Leonardo Da Vinci Crater; in the south-west is the Taruntius crater. Prior to its renaming, Assad crater was considered a satellite crater Taruntsii A [1] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 12.4 km [2] , depth 2.25 km [3] .
The crater has a cup shape with a small portion of the flat bottom of the bowl. The shaft height above the surrounding area is 450 m [4] , the volume of the crater is approximately 69 km³ [4] . Traces of rocks ejected during impact form alternating light and dark radial bands on the inner slope of the crater.
According to morphological characteristics, the crater belongs to the Bio type (by the name of the Bio crater, which is a characteristic representative of this type).
Assad crater is included in the list of craters with dark radial bands on the inner slope of the Association of Lunar and Planetary Astronomy (ALPO) [5] .
