Biography
Nikolai Grigoriev was born on October 14, 1918 in the village of Bolshoi Ozertitsy (now the Volosovsky District of the Leningrad Region ) into a peasant family. He graduated from elementary school. In 1940, Grigoriev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since February 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By January 1945, the sergeant Nikolai Grigoriev commanded the guns of the 147th guards artillery and mortar regiment of the 15th guards cavalry division of the 7th guards cavalry corps of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland [1] .
On January 14, 1945, during the breakthrough of the German defense from the Pulawski bridgehead, Grigoryev destroyed 3 bunkers with the fire of his guns, contributing to the successful advance of the Soviet units. When on the march the battery collided with a convoy of German cars and armored personnel carriers , Grigoriev, despite machine-gun and machine-gun fire, deployed a gun and opened fire on the enemy, destroying 3 cars and several dozen enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 27, 1945, Sergeant Nikolai Grigoryev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In 1945, Grigoriev was demobilized. He lived and worked in Leningrad . He died on January 13, 1976 [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
