Deputy Prime Minister of India ( Eng. Deputy Prime Minister of India , Hindi भारत के उप प्रधान मंत्री ) - this position in the Government of India is not constitutional, its existence is not spelled out in laws and is not mandatory. The position is introduced if necessary - if it is necessary to implement any major national project, or that the iconic politician has a key position in the absence of ministerial vacancies. Vallabhai Patel was the first to become Deputy Prime Minister of India in 1947 .
