Chernoerkovsky district was formed on December 28, 1934 as part of the Azov-Black Sea Territory. It included 2 village councils: Petrovsky and Chernerkovsky. By 1941, 2 more village councils appeared in the district: Kirovsky and Molotovsky.
On September 13, 1937, the Chernoerkovsky district became part of the Krasnodar Territory.
On August 22, 1953 the Chernoerkovsky district was abolished. Its territory in its entirety entered the Slavyansk region .
