Biography

He grew up with seven brothers and sisters and one adopted brother. [1] Art has fascinated him since childhood. His talent was recognized, and at the age of 15 he already had his own separate exhibitions. In 1998, he began to study traditional Mongolian painting in Ulan Bator. During his studies, Otgonbayar created about 400 paintings. After studying, he participated as an artist and restorer in many research trips to historical sites in Mongolia. In Buddhist-Lamaist monasteries, he studied various techniques and iconography of miniature painting and its spiritual foundations. Since 1998, he is a freelance artist. In addition to the artworks themselves, about 600 “research paintings” belong to his work. Since 2005, Otgonbayar has been living in Berlin. In 2007-2010, he studied at the Institute for Contextual Art, at the Faculty of Art, University of the Arts, Berlin, and graduated with a diploma in art. Since 2010, Ershu Otgonbayar has exhibited at international exhibitions in Japan, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, India, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany and Mongolia. [2]
