German Anschütz ( German: Hermann Anschütz , October 12, 1802 , Koblenz - August 30, 1880 , Munich ) is a German artist , teacher, professor at the Munich Academy of Arts . The son of Joseph Andreas Anschütz , brother of Karl Anschütz .

Biography
In his youth he was associated with the Dusseldorf School of Art . Then he studied at the Munich Academy under the leadership of Cornelius .
Later, he himself led the painting class of the Academy of Arts. Among his students at the Munich Academy were Jan Matejko , Ernst Zimmermann , Franz von Defregger , Gyula Benzur , Theodor Gorschelt , Hippolytus Lipinsky , Claudius Schraudolph and many others.
His son was a professor of physics and mathematics, and his grandson was an engineer German Anschutz-Kempfe , the inventor of the gyrocompass .
