Anderson Crater ( Latin Anderson ), not to be confused with Andersson Crater and M. Anderson Crater, is a large impact crater on the far side of the moon in the enormous Freindlich - Sharon basin. The name is given in honor of the American astronomer John Anderson (1876-1959) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater dates back to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The immediate neighbors of the crater are the Base Ballot Crater in the northeast; Sharon Crater in the southeast and Spencer Jones Crater in the east-southeast. In the northeast of the crater is the Pleasure Lake [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 105 km [3] , depth 2.9 km [1] .
The crater shaft is significantly destroyed, blocked by numerous small craters. The satellite crater Sharon X adjoins the southeastern part of the shaft. The height of the shaft above the surrounding area is 1530 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 12,000 km³ [1] . The bottom of the crater bowl is relatively flat, dotted with many small craters. In the south-southeastern part of the crater, the satellite crater Anderson L stands out (see below).
