“Alexei Ivanovich Gotovtsev, being a teacher of tactics of higher formations at the MV Frunze Military Academy, was in our regiment for a long internship. He was a comprehensively erudite military specialist, who had already graduated from the General Staff Academy in the pre-revolutionary years, and was a participant in the first world and civil wars. He was also distinguished by a high general culture. Thanks to this, as well as enviable performance and punctuality, A. I. Gotovtsev easily coped with his duties, put the headquarters service in the unit at a very high level. At the same time, he had enough time to help young and not so young commanders deepen their professional and general knowledge. Using every free minute for self-education, Alexey Ivanovich instilled in us a taste for reading military-theoretical literature. He taught us to easily go to his house when there were any difficulties in comprehending what was read. Here, without observing the strictness of subordination, we spoke in a relaxed atmosphere on a wide variety of issues. Gotovtsev was intolerant of those who neglected the daily work to replenish knowledge. ”
