It is located on the north-eastern outskirts of the city. It borders on the southeast with the coastline of the St. Lawrence River, in the north with the Laurentian mountains in the regional municipalities of La Bopor and Saint-Brigitte de Laval, in the east with the areas of Charlbur and La Cité Lemoile.
The motto of the district is “My dignity stems from my faith and work” ( lat. Fide Et Labore Valebo ).
The region is represented by the building materials industry, there are enterprises for the production of varnishes and paints, printers and equipment for clinics. An important role in the economy is played by food transportation.
Attractions include the Parc de la Jester Montmorency, which houses the fortress, built in 1759 by James Wolfe and Manua Montmorency, and served as a home from 1791 to 1794 for Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Stratern.
In the historical district of the city there are many interesting churches and houses, including the Belange-Girarden House, the National History Museum of Canada, where visitors can learn about the history of Beaupor. Festivals are held annually in the area in spring and summer.
History
In 1634, Robert Giffard founded the estate on this site, which he named Beaupor.
This settlement is one of the oldest founded by Europeans in Canada.
In 1976, the city of Bopor appeared here. It was created by combining seven regional municipal districts (Beaupont, Saint-Michel-Arkange, Giffard, Vallneuve, Montmorency, Courville and Saint-Terez de Lisieux).
In the 1990s, the population of this town continued to grow rapidly, which was facilitated by the diversification of the economy, the availability of free space and the possibility of outdoor recreation.
Since January 1, 2002, Beaufort became part of the city of Quebec, becoming one of its areas.
Counties
The district is divided into five districts, only two of which have official names - Vieux-Moulins and Jester-Montmorency.
The other three counties, pending the official name, bear the following conventional names (their official numbering is in brackets in Quebec): Vieux-Boer (District 5-4), Saint-Michel (District 5-2) and Lorentid (District 5-1 )
In the Quebec City Council, Bopor is represented by an adviser to each of the four constituencies.
