Biography
Arkady Volozh was born on February 11, 1964 in the city of Guryev, Kazakh SSR (now Atyrau ). His father, Yuri Abramovich Volozh (born 1938), a geologist, a specialist in the oil fields of the Caspian Sea and one of the discoverers of the Kashagan field , was the head of the Kazgeofiztrest party in Almaty; subsequently - Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, senior researcher at the Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. [7] Mother, Sofya Lvovna Volozh, teacher at the Guryev Music College [8] .
Graduate of the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics in Almaty. He graduated from the Institute of Oil and Gas. I. M. Gubkin majoring in applied mathematics in 1986. He was engaged in research in the field of processing large amounts of data at the Institute of Management Problems (IPU) of the USSR Academy of Sciences [9] .
In 1989, he founded the company Comptek , held the position of CEO until 2000 [10] . In the same year, he opened the Arcadia company, together with Arkady Borkovsky they released a product according to the classification of inventions with a volume of about 10 MB, which was used in patent research institutes and organizations [9] .
In 1998, as the head of the Committee for Wireless Access Networks of the Russian Documentary Telecommunications Association (RANS.RU), Arkady participated in the frequency deregulation process for wireless access operators . In 1999, he was one of those who influenced the fate of the legalization of IP-telephony in Russia.
In 1997, Volozh took the first step in creating the Yandex company - for 10 thousand dollars 3 servers with hard drives with a capacity of 1 GB were purchased, on which all the contents of the Runet were indexed.
