Pneumolaelaps karawaiewi (lat.) Is a species of ticks of the Laelapidae family from the order Mesostigmata ( Dermanyssoidea ) [2] . Previously considered as part of the genera Hypoaspis and Laelaps .

Russia , Ukraine , Transcaucasia , Kazakhstan , Israel and countries of Western Europe.
The body is oval, small in size, less than 0.5 mm. The back shield is covered with a thin mesh sculpture and 39 pairs of thin bristles.
They live in the litter layer, in anthills , in nests of rodents, under stones, in rotting stumps [3] .
The species was described in 1904 by the Italian acarologist and entomologist Antonio Berlese ( Italian: Antonio Berlese , 1863-1927) and named after the Russian zoologist Vladimir Afanasevich Karavaev [1] .
