The party of the Naryshkins , relatives of the second wife of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich , wanted to hand over the kingdom to ten-year-old Peter , son of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich from Natalia Kirillovna Naryshkina .

Armed archers occupied the Kremlin and settled near the Red Porch, demanding the death of the boyars, opponents of Sophia . The widowed queen Natalya Kirillovna brought out the princes Ivan and Peter and showed them to the archers. Boyar Prince Prince Mikhail Yuryevich Dolgorukov went out on the porch, from where he began to scold the archers and demand that they disperse to the barracks. The enraged archers rushed onto the porch, grabbed Dolgorukov and threw him at the spears and berdshis of their comrades, who immediately killed him.
