Botanical Description

Climbing or crawling perennial vine . Escape pubescent.

The leaves are broadly ovate to heart-shaped, slightly pubescent, pointed, shallow 5-lobed, with a deep-heart-shaped base, up to 7 cm long and 7-8 cm wide. Petioles up to 8.5 cm long, pubescent.

Flowers are dioecious, male, 1-4 in axillary inflorescences, single female. Corolla yellow-orange.

Fruit - fusiform pubescent ribbed pumpkin up to 3 cm long and 0.5 cm in diameter, contains 1-2 seeds.

Range

Southeast Africa: Tanzania , Zambia , Zimbabwe , Mozambique , Botswana .
