Leonid Ignatievich Grekov ( December 14 [27], 1913 - October 29, 1941 ) - captain of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union ( 1941 ).

Biography

Leonid Grekov was born on December 14 (27), 1913, on the Limovoye farm [1] into a peasant family.

In 1932 he graduated from the komvuz in absentia.

In 1934, Grekov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1936, he graduated from the Orenburg Military Aviation School of Pilots. He was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR of the 1st convocation. Since September 1940, he was deputy commander of the 169th Fighter Aviation Regiment in the political unit. Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II, he fought as part of the 52nd Army [2] .

During his participation in the war, the Greeks made 65 sorties, in air battles he shot down 4 enemy planes in person and another 10 in the group. October 29, 1941 he died in an air battle near Leningrad . He was buried in the city of Borovichi, Novgorod Region [2] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 27, 1941 for "courage and military valor shown in battles with the German invaders," Captain Leonid Grekov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin and the Red Banner [2] .

Memory

  • In honor of Grekov, a street in the village of Kolpny and Yarishchenskaya secondary school of Kolpnyansky district are named. In Kolpny installed his bust [2] .
