Cable laying device (UZK) ( English Cable Pulling Systems ) - a device designed to bookmark (retract) the cable into closed cable channels , having the form of pipes of rectangular or circular cross-section.
Other names of ultrasonic testing: cable tightening device, channel blanking device.
Traditionally, ultrasonic testing is used when laying cables of low-current telecommunication networks ( SCS ) behind false walls, above false ceilings, through pipes, metal hoses , ducts, etc.

UZK device
UZK consists of a rod (it can be fiberglass , nylon , metal and a combination of these materials) and a nozzle (flexible or rigid).
The type of bar affects its flexibility, weight and cost of ultrasonic testing.
Rods of rigid (poorly bending) materials are used to pull the cable in straight or filled cable channels, in which it is necessary to push the bar forward with force. In this case, rigid bar nozzles are also used.
Bars of flexible materials are used to pull the cable in cable ducts with strong or numerous bends. In this case, flexible bar nozzles are also used.
Depending on the length of the bar (usually from 5 to 500 m.), The ultrasonic testing machine is supplied in coils of various designs or in bays. In the general case, the name UZK is also applied to devices of a different design, also used for cable laying (for example, a cable gun , magnetic UZK).
The principle of operation of ultrasonic testing
If necessary, stretch the cable inside a closed (that is, without a lid along the entire length) cable channel, it is first drilled using an ultrasonic inspection device: the ultrasonic protection rod is pushed along the entire length of the cable channel. On the other hand, a cable is attached to the bar nozzle. To fix the cable, various devices are used - cable stockings , collapsible lugs of various types. After fixing the cable, the UZK bar is pulled back, thus pulling the cable inside the cable channel.
If the cable channel is long, then pulling the cable may require more force than the strength of the ultrasonic testing rod can provide. In this case, a strong metal cable is first pulled into the channel and a cable attached to the cable is pulled already by the cable.
Hand tools for working with ultrasonic testing
To facilitate the retraction of the cable into the cable channels, special lubricants are used to pull the cable. They do not harm the cable sheath, but at the same time reduce friction when pulling it by up to 90%.
To facilitate work with ultrasonic testing, devices are also used to quickly capture the bar. They securely capture the bar and prevent the hands from slipping when pushing it or pulling it out of the cable channel.
