Semi-seasoning rose [2] , or half-joint rosehip [3] ( Latin Rósa cymosa ) is a species of the Rosehip genus of the family Pink [4] [5] [6] [7] .

Area

Plants are found in China in the provinces of Anhui , Fujian , Guangdong , Guizhou , Hubei , Hunan , Jiangsu , Shanxi , Sichuan , Yunnan and Zhejiang , also in Guangxi, the Republic of China , Laos and Vietnam [5] [6] [8] .

Biological description

Evergreen shrubs from 2 to 5 meters [8] . Sprigs bare or pubescent; spines hooked, up to 6 mm, flat [8] .

Petiolate leaves ; stipules linear, entire, pointed at apex; leaves are ovate-lanceolate or elliptical, leathery, shiny, pointed at apex [8] .

Flowers numerous, 2-2.5 cm in diameter; pedicels about 1.5 cm, pubescent; bracts lanceolate, acuminate at the top [8] . Sepals 5, petals 5; sepals are deciduous, ovate, pointed at apex; petals are fragrant, white or yellow, obovate, wedge-shaped at the base, notched at the top [8] .

Fruits are about 7 mm in diameter, contain many seeds [9] .

Ecology

Plants are found on hills , open slopes, along roadsides at an altitude of 200–1800 meters above sea level [8] .

Use

Cooking Use

Fruits are used raw or cooked [9] . Fruit seeds are a good source of vitamin E, they are mixed with flour in powdered form or added to other products as a supplement [9] .

Medical Use

Leaves, fruits and roots are used as an anti-inflammatory, diuretic and laxative [9] . The decoction is used in the treatment of arthritis , boils , productive cough [9] . Fruits are investigated as food that contributes to a reduction in the incidence of cancer and as a means of stopping or reversing cancer [9] .

Use in landscape design

Can be used to decorate old trees [10] .
