The 1986 parliamentary elections in Liechtenstein were held on January 31 and February 2 . The Patriotic Union received the majority of votes , securing 8 out of 15 seats in the Landtag .
For the first time in the country's history, women who received the right to vote after the 1984 referendum could participate in the elections. At the same time, one woman went to the Landtag from the Progressive Party [1] . Thus, Liechtenstein became one of the last countries in the world to grant women the right to vote [2] .
The newly formed Free List party, which took a pro-environmental and less conservative position compared to those represented in the Landtag, first participated in these elections. However, in these elections the party was not able to pass the 8% barrier and did not get into the Landtag. Voter turnout was 93.3% [1] .
