Julian de Guzmán ( fr. Julián Bobby de Guzmán ; born March 25, 1981 in Toronto , Canada ) is a Canadian footballer who is famous for playing for Deportivo La Coruna , Hannover 96 , Toronto and the Canadian national team . The older brother of Jonathan de Guzmán . He currently holds the position of general manager at the Ottawa Fury club.

Club career
Julian was discovered by scouts of the Marseille Olympic , in the Canadian Nord Scarborough [2] . In 1997, he moved to France , where he played for the youth squad of Marseille until 2000. In 2000, in search of playing practice, de Guzman moved to the club of the second German division “ Saarbrücken ” [3] .
In 2002, Julian signed a contract with the Bundesliga team, Hannover 96 , becoming the third Canadian footballer in the German Championship . He spent three seasons at the club, playing 78 matches and scoring 2 goals. The management of “Hanover” did not want to renew the agreement with the midfielder and he received the status of a free agent. The English Tottenham Hotspur showed great interest in the player, but Julian signed a contract with the Spanish Deportivo La A Coruña . De Guzmán was the first Canadian to play in La Liga [4] . In the 2007/08 season, Julian received the Best Player award for the season when he helped the team avoid relegation and win a place in the UEFA Cup . For Deportivo de Guzmán played 95 matches and scored one goal against Real Madrid .
In September 2009, de Guzmán signed a three-year contract with the Toronto club [5] . Midfielder's salary was $ 1,910,746 per year. In the team, he was one of the players brought them out of the salary ceiling [6] . On September 19, 2009, in a match against the Los Angeles Galaxy , de Guzman made his debut in MLS [7] . In July 2010, Julian managed to convince his former Deportivo partner, Mist, to move to Toronto. On August 18, in the CONCACAF Champions League match against the Panamanian Tauro team, de Guzmán scored his first goal for the club internationally.
On July 13, 2012, de Guzmain was traded in a draft for Andrew Weidman at Dallas [9] . On September 18, Julian made his new team debut against San Jose Earthquakes [10] . On September 15, in a duel against Vancouver Whitecaps, the midfielder scored his first goal for the club [11] . De Guzmain's contract expired in the summer of 2012, but he took advantage of the extension right and remained until December. In the winter of 2013, de Guzmán received free agent status.
After leaving Dallas, Julian played for Jan , the Greek Xanthi and Ottawa Fury . In 2016, he completed his professional career and got a job in the structure of his last club.
International Career
In 2001, de Guzmans made his debut for the Canadian youth team at the Youth World Championships in Argentina . In January 2002, Julian was included in the application for the Canadian national team to participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup . On January 26, in a match against the Martinique team, he made his debut for the national team [12] . De Guzman also played in a duel against South Korea [13] .
In 2007, Julian took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the second time. At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Costa Rica [14] , Guadeloupe [15] , Haiti [16] , Guatemala [17] and the USA [18] . In a duel against the Costa Ricans, de Guzmán scored twice, scoring his first goals for the national team. According to the results of the competition, he was recognized as the best player of the tournament.
In 2009, Julian took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the third time. At the tournament, he played against the national teams of Salvador [19] , Jamaica [20] and Honduras [21] .
In 2011, for the fourth time, de Guzmain was included in the application for participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he took part in matches against Panama [22] and Guadeloupe [23] .
In 2013, Julian was fifth in the application for participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he played in matches against the national teams of Martinique [24] , Mexico [25] and Panama [26]
In 2015, Julian was included in the application for the national team to participate in the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he played in matches against the national teams of Costa Rica [27] and Jamaica [28] .
