General Information
The Stockholm Olympics Tennis Tournament was held both indoors and outdoors. The first tournament in the halls enjoyed widespread attention, and members of the Swedish royal family attended the matches daily. This tournament was marked by a surprise in the men's singles when the favorite Anthony Wilding lost to the British Charles Dixon in the semi-final and the unconditional victory of another Briton - Edith Hannem , who did not give a set in three matches to her rivals (although in both sets of the final match she lost with 3-0) [1] .
The open court tournament coincided in time with the Wimbledon tournament , which led to the absence of the strongest participants from the UK, France and the United States in men's categories. In their absence and in conditions of extreme heat, South African tennis players successfully performed gold medals in both singles and doubles [1] .
