Structure
Ground Forces
Ground forces in Alaska are under operational command of the Alaska Ground Forces Command ( Eng. United States Army Alaska, USARAK ). Ground forces are represented by two brigades from the 25th Infantry Division (one of them - the 1st brigade is armed with Striker armored personnel carriers), the army aviation brigade, as well as the rear brigade.
Air Force
The Air Force is represented by the 11th Air Army - the largest unit of the US Air Force in the North Pacific. Parts of the 11th Army are based at two air bases: Elmendorf in Anchorage, and Eyelson in Fairbanks. The army is armed with interceptor fighters (including F-22), AWACS aircraft, as well as military transport aircraft and air tankers; long-range bomber aviation is absent.
Coast Guard
In Alaska, there are no bases for large naval units. The maritime component of Alaska Command is composed of coast guard units. Only the patrol boats are in service with the 17th Coast Guard District.
