Alison Lapper ( April 7, 1965 , Burton upon Trent , Staffordshire , England ) is an English artist born without arms. The heroine of the sculpture by Mark Quinn , which was on display at the Fourth Pedestal of Trafalgar Square until the end of 2007 . Alison Lapper has become a symbol of human beauty and incredible vitality.

Biography
Born April 7, 1965 in Burton upon Trent ( Staffordshire , England ). Because of the drug that was prescribed to pregnant women, Alison was born without arms and with short legs. She started drawing at the age of three with her feet, and then with her mouth. In 2000, she successfully gave birth using cesarean section.

Sculptor and designer Mark Quinn , conquered by the courage and femininity of Alison, sculpted her pregnant: this marble statue, 3.6 meters high and weighing 13 tons, was installed on the Fourth Pedestal of Trafalgar Square in 2005 .
In August 2012, in London, at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, a huge copy of this sculpture became the center of the theatrical performance [1] .
