Honored Artist of Bulgaria (1963). People's Artist of Bulgaria (1966). Member of the Bulgarian Communist Party since 1962 [3] . Played over 60 movie roles.

Biography

Georgy Kaloyanchev was born in Burgas on January 13, 1925.

After serving in the army, Georgi entered the acting department of the Krasto Sarafov Higher University of Theater Arts in Sofia. His classmates were Costa Tonev and Katya Dineva. After his graduation, he was accepted into the Ivan Vazov National Theater .

In 1951, his film debut took place. Kaloyanchev played the role of gypsy Kali in the film “Morning over the Motherland”. In 1957, Kaloyanchev transferred to the newly created Satire Theater named after Aleko Konstantinov [4] . On this scene, he played dozens of roles, including Khlestakov in The Examiner , Kochkarev in The Marriage , Ostap Bender in The Twelve Chairs , Schweik in Svejk in the Second World War, and Arturo Wu in the Career of Arturo Wu Bertolt Brecht , Prisypkin in the " Bedbug " by Mayakovsky , Novoseltsev in the " Co-workers " of Ryazanov and Braginsky.

The son of Georgy Kaloyanchev Ivaylo Kaloyanchev (born 1954) is also an actor, works in the Satire Theater, acts in films. [5]

Georgy Kaloyanchev died on December 18, 2012 in Sofia. On the day of the actor’s death, Bulgarian television changed the broadcast program and showed films with Kaloyanchev in the title role [6] . Farewell to the actor took place on December 21, 2012 at the Satire Theater. [7] .
