Biography
Reformed religion . From the hereditary nobles of the Kherson and Kiev provinces [1] . Landowner of Kanevsky Uyezd (550 tithes ).
He graduated from the Richelieu Gymnasium in Odessa and the Elisavetgrad Cavalry School (1888).
He served as an officer in the 2nd Life Hussar Pavlograd and 14th Hussar Mitava Regiments. In 1891-1901 he was an adjutant to the Commander of the Odessa Military District, Count A. I. Musine-Pushkin .
In 1901 he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel of cavalry and settled on his estate Kanevsky district. Engaged in agriculture and social activities. He was elected Kanevsky district leader of the nobility (since 1907) and chairman of the Kanevsky district zemstvo council (since 1911), was an honorary magistrate of the Kanevsky judicial district. He rose to the rank of college adviser .
In 1912 he was elected a member of the State Duma from the Kiev province. He was a member of the faction of Russian nationalists and moderate right (FNUP), after its split in August 1915 - in the group of supporters P.N.Balashov . He was a rapporteur of the commission on military and naval affairs, as well as a member of the commissions: on military and maritime affairs, on the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, on public education, on public health and on ways of communication.
During the First World War, he was engaged in helping the wounded and sick soldiers. He was authorized: the Russian Red Cross Society in Kanevsky Uyezd, the Committee of Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, the Kiev Provincial Zemstvo in the All-Russian Zemsky Union .
After the October Revolution he moved to Odessa , in 1920 he was evacuated with his family to Constantinople . In exile in Czechoslovakia, since 1931 - in Switzerland, he lived in Bern. He died in 1937.
Family
He was married twice. The eldest son is Shteiger, Boris Sergeevich (1892-1937) - an employee of the People's Commissariat of Education and the OGPU. shot.
Middle son from his first marriage: Anatoly , poet of the first wave of emigration.
In the second marriage there were three children. One of the daughters of Alla (1909-1987) was the poet and first wife of the artist Alexander Sergeyevich Golovin (1904-1968).
