Concert chromatic variations ( French Variations chromatiques de concert ) in C minor Op. 3 - composition for piano by Georges Bizet , written in 1868 . The average duration of sound is 13-14 minutes. Consists of themes (Moderato maestoso), 14 variations and codes. The play is dedicated to pianist Stefan Geller [1] .
Despite the fact that the variations were sporadically fulfilled (for example, in 1890, the reviewer noted the refinement and completeness in their performance by Clotilde Kleberg [2] ), the work was considered forgotten until the time when it was resurrected by Glenn Gould , who believed that Chromatic variations - “One of the very few masterpieces of the solo piano repertoire that arose in the third quarter of the 19th century” [3] . Gould, in 1971, recorded Variations for the first time, there are also recordings by Setrak and Julia Severus.
In 1933 , the play was orchestrated by Felix Weingartner , this version was recorded by the Louisville Orchestra conducted by Jorge Mester .
In 1962 , to the music of Chromatic Variations, Vladimir Burmeister staged a ballet for the Paris Grand Opera [4] .
