History

In 2009, the Bahroma group debuted with the single “For Long”, which was recorded at the Kiev studio “211”. The sound producer of the track was the keyboardist of the band “ Ocean Elzy ”, arranged by Milos Jelic [1] . A video was also shot for the song [2] .

In 2011, Bahroma became a finalist of the Ukrainian Eurovision qualifying round. In the fall, Bahroma entered the final of the KROK-Rock rock festival [3] [4] .

In the spring of 2012, a new single of the group - “Don’t Davie” was released, in June a video was released for it [5] . In 2012, Bahroma also took part in a special Lenta.ru project dedicated to the four thousandth anniversary of the Aquarium group. Bahroma made a tribute to the song "Moving Toward Spring" from the 1984 album " Ichthyology ".

On February 14, 2014, the group released their debut album Inside. [6] Several songs (“Virsh”, “For Freedom” and “Soul”) recorded at the Kiev headquarters of VKontakte were presented online July 31, 2013 [7] . In June 2014, the group will perform for the first time at the Russian Wild Mint ethnic festival [8] .

On May 18, 2015, the new EP of the Ukrainian band Bahroma was released. The mini-album is called “IPI” and includes five compositions, including the single “Bye-bye”, already known to fans. Sound producer of the recording was keyboardist of Ocean Elzy band Milos Jelic, work on Ipi took nine months.

On June 10, 2015, the BAHROMA group presented their new video work on the track “In Depth” - the title track of their new mini-album “IPI”. The video was directed by Anna Kopylova, who had previously worked with the groups Pianoboy (“You Can Hear Hardly”) and “Boombox” (“Out”).

On December 9, 2015, the group released the first single from the upcoming third album, which is scheduled for release in April 2016.

After building up the intrigue and presentation of the two tracks “Quiet” and “#BOY”, the Ukrainian rock band BAHROMA presented the new, third album, “Plus Minus Equals”. The musical producer of the release was the keyboardist of the band “Ocean Elzy” Milos Jelic, with whom the guys had already collaborated at the dawn of their musical career, working on the single “For Long” in 2009. The disc has seven compositions, including two creative collaborations: with Zhenya Galich (frontman of O.Torvald) in the track “Sex-Drugs-Rock-n-Roll” and the non-standard experiment “#BOY” with the famous rapper Yarmakom, the video on which was presented last week. By tradition, the album was first made available for listening on the official page of the VKontakte group. “The work on recording the album lasted more than a year and finally we are ready to show it to the listener. Overall, I am very pleased with the result! "Plus Minus Equals" is full of contradictions, like all of us. The album has songs that are opposite in sound, from heavy rock to electronic. The track list is complemented by our collaboration with Yarmak “#BOY”, an interesting experiment, the results of which we will see in the future, ”- the leader of the group Roman Bakharev shares in the official press release the process of creating and filling the new album.

On November 21, Bahroma presented the new album “DOM”. He became the fourth in their studio longplay collection. The first songs from the release were written on a European tour a year ago. After returning from a trip, Bahroma rented a large house for the whole winter and there they began to work closely on new material.

“For me, a house is a place of power, something special, personal, hidden from prying eyes. There you do not need to lie and invent anything. That's what our songs are about, and therefore the album itself is called “DOM,” says Roma Bakharev, the band’s frontman.

Recording of the release took place at once in several studios: DYNAMIKA music, ISTOK studio, Lipkyzvukozapys.

The album includes ten completely different in mood and sound compositions. Roman himself singles out of them the songs “South”, “Quadrille” and “Marina”: “The most resonant song in terms of its semantic load is“ Marina ”. Our music is not a pop product, not everyone will appreciate it. However, the stage is one of those that charge the public. Her text is not in the eyebrow, but in the eye. She is very frank, straightforward, funny, with wild irony. It was on her that we decided to shoot a new clip ”

Criticism Reviews

The ELLE Ukraine magazine in September 2009 called the group "the hope of domestic pop-rock" [2] . According to music critic Guru Ken , “the group has everything to become stars in Russia: a vocal, charismatic, unshaven frontman, hit melodic songs, an excellent rhythm section and a sense of ensemble play” [9] .

Commenting on the release of the debut album, music columnist Boris Barabanov noted: “Bahroma is absolutely“ our ”thing. A little Brainstorm , a little “ Ocean Elzy ”, a little “ Mummy Troll ”, but at the same time an individual intonation and a young spark. This combination of epigonism and drive in territories with a more developed music industry immediately leads the group on the covers of magazines such as NME . This should sound from every Russian-speaking iron. ” [10] .
