Biography
Maxim Grabovenko was born on August 11, 1923 in the village of Marinovka (now Domanevsky district of the Nikolaev region of Ukraine ) into a peasant family.
Received primary education, worked as a carpenter.
In August 1941, he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army by the Stalin military enlistment office . Since July 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, Junior Sergeant Maxim Grabovenko was the gunner of the 691st artillery regiment of the 237th Infantry Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] . Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1944.
September 25, 1943 Grabovenko took part in fierce battles in the area of the village of Grebeni, Kagarlyksky district, Kiev region . During the reflection of one of the enemy counterattacks, he was injured, but did not leave the battlefield, continuing to fight [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 24, 1943, Junior Sergeant Maxim Grabovenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war, the rank of senior sergeant Grabovenko was demobilized. He lived and worked on a collective farm in the village of Novoalekseevka, Vradiyevsky district, Nikolaev region. Tragically died on November 12, 1980 [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals.
