Rotunda of prominent figures ( Spanish: Rotonda de las Personas Ilustres ; formerly - Rotunda of prominent husbands ) - a site on the territory of the Civil Pantheon of Mourning in Mexico City . Here lies the remains of the famous military, scientists, prominent cultural figures of Mexico . It was originally called the “Rotunda of Illustrious Husbands”, since it was assumed that only “illustrious men” would be buried here. [1] However, in 2003, by decree of Vincent Fox Quesada, the name was changed to the current one. The first on the territory of the Rotunda in 1876 was Pedro Litechipia, a soldier who died while fighting against the Second Mexican Empire . [2]
