Biography

According to published information, a woman named Maria is hiding under a pseudonym. Dmitry Bykov sometimes gives conflicting information about her biography, so in one of the interviews he said: “She changed many occupations, was born abroad, with whom and where she lives - an absolute secret.” In the afterword to the novel “Korolev,” Bykov writes:

She was born and lived the first twenty-five years in the Urals, graduated from high school with a gold medal and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University with honors, published her first poem in Pioneer Truth and has not been published since then. She left the boring office at the beginning of the working day, so that she would never return there again. She sold an apartment, took her mother and moved to Moscow to live in extreme poverty and do only literature.

In September 2012, an interview was published with Maxim Chertanov, in which the author said that the information told by Dmitry Bykov is also part of the hoax that will continue.

The real name of the author became known at the awards ceremony "Enlightener" November 21, 2013 [1] . But, perhaps, this is part of a grandiose literary hoax conceived by Bykov.

Quote

... Biographies are definitely useful. It sounds boring, stupid, but it does. They are useful narrowly practically - for students, schoolchildren. And broadly - so that people better know the history and history of culture in particular. This, probably, is the super task of the publishing house “Young Guard”, and now I am a small screw of this noble mechanism.
