Biography
Lucretia Barberini was born on October 24, 1628 in Rome. She was the daughter of Taddeo Barberini, Prince of Palestine and Anna Colonna, daughter of Filippo I Colonna , Prince of Palian . [1] Lucretia Barberini was the sister of Maffeo Barberini , Cardinal Carlo Barberini and the great-granddaughter of Pope Urban VIII . Her uncles were three cardinals - Francesco and Antonio Barberini and Jerome Colonna.
Her cousin Lorenzo Onofrio I Colonna , Prince Palian was the husband of Maria Mancini , niece of the Prime Minister of France, Cardinal Jules (Giulio) Mazarin .
On October 14, 1654, Lucretia Barberini married Francesco I d'Este , Duke of Modena . [2] They were married in Loreto at the Basilica of the Holy House . In many ways, marriage was a truce between the families of d'Este and Barberini, who fought with each other during the First Castro War.
Lucretia Barberini died on August 24, 1699 in Modena.
