Primary draw

In the new season, the rules for distributing teams into groups have changed. From now on, 24 participants acquired the status of a team of the first, second, third or fourth tier. The status was determined by the club’s previous performances in European competitions. Each group included one team from each tier. [one]

  • This match became known as “ Bloodgate ”. British coach Dean Richards received a three-year suspension as a result of the incident. The fact is that when a player has blood, an extraordinary replacement is allowed. Richards also staged the appearance of blood in a player Tom Williams. Williams was punished for a year, but his cooperation with the investigation was considered as a mitigating circumstance, and the period of disqualification was reduced to four months. [3]
