Tognoni is best known for her roles in the daytime soap operas One Life to Live and A Guiding Light . She won the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2006 and 2008 for her role in the soap opera Guiding Light [1] , thereby becoming one of three actresses to receive more than one award in this category. She also appeared in the television series Law and Order: Special Corps and Soprano Clan , and starred in several independent films. Before becoming an actress, Tognoni won the Miss Rhode Island beauty pageant in 1991 and Teen America in 1993. [2]
In 2014, Tognoni was able to get around dozens of other actresses and get the coveted role of Phyllis Summers, previously owned by Michelle Stafford , in the soap opera “ Young and the Insolent ” [3] . The role brought her a nomination for the Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2015 [4] .
