Biography
Ivan Goryachev was born in 1933 in the village of Skripki of the Bezhetsky district (now Tver region ) in a peasant family. He studied at a school in the village of Kulichino . He received an incomplete secondary education, worked as a tractor driver in a machine and tractor station . In 1953, Goryachev was called up for service in the Soviet Army. He graduated from a training unit, served in tank units. By October 1956, Sergeant Ivan Goryachev was a tank driver of the 62nd Tank Regiment of the 11th Guards Mechanized Division of the Carpathian Military District [1] . He wrote the story “For Salvation”, which told about Innocent, who saved a little girl during the war.
In October 1956, Goryachev as part of Soviet troops entered the territory of the Hungarian People's Republic and took part in the suppression of the Hungarian uprising. November 9, 1956 in one of the battles with the Hungarian rebels, he died. He was buried in a mass grave at a military cemetery in the city of Kecskemét [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 18, 1956, for “courage and bravery shown in the performance of military duty”, Sergeant Ivan Goryachev was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
