The art and memorial museum of Ilya Efimovich Repin in the city of Chuguev (now Kharkiv Oblast ) was created in 1969 in the former house of the artist’s parents on Museum Street, former Nikitinskaya Street, in the Soviet era - Rosa Luxemburg . Already an adult, Repin repeatedly visited his parents for about twenty years in the 1870s-1890s.

In the museum you can see works (including icon paintings) of Repin himself, as well as his contemporaries-artists ( I. Pelevin , N. Pimonenko , V. Serov ). A memorial setting has been restored in some of the rooms.
In 1989, according to drawings from the Kiev archives, the artist’s workshop was recreated from scratch, previously completely destroyed during the events of World War II .
Since September 2014, the memorial house-museum has been closed for restoration, but a visit to the workshop is possible.
