Jay Robert Insley ( Eng. Jay Robert Inslee , February 9, 1951 , Seattle , Washington ) - American attorney , politician and member of the Democratic Party . Serves as the 23rd Governor of the State of Washington since January 2013 . Previously represented the state in Congress.

Born in Seattle, Insley graduated from Washington University and University College of Law in Willamette. From 1989 to 1993, he served in the Washington House of Representatives, and then represented the 4th district of Washington in Congress, which included part of the state around the city of Yakima , and from 1993 to 1995 he worked in the US House of Representatives . After winning the re-election to the US Senate in the 1994 elections, Insley returned to private practice and then moved to the 1995 elections for the post of governor of Washington, taking 5th place in the first round in the general vote, which was won by Democrat Gary Locke . Insley then served as regional director for the Department of Health and Human Services during the presidency of Bill Clinton .
Insley returned to the House of Representatives in 1999 from the 1st Washington Congress District, which included the northern suburbs of Seattle in King , Snohomish and Kitsap counties. He announced that he would again nominate his candidacy for the post of governor on June 27, 2011, and resigned from Congress on March 20, 2012, in order to focus on his election campaign. After defeating Republican Rob McKenna, Washington's Attorney General, he received 52% of the vote against 48% of McKenna in the 2012 general election in Washington.
Education and legal careers
Insley was born in Seattle to Adele A. (born Brown) and Frank E. Insley. [2] Graduated from Ingraham School in Seattle, University of Washington ( Bachelor of Arts , Economics ) and University College of Law at Willamette.
Insley attributes his interest in outdoor activities to those years that his parents conducted leading student groups on wildlife conservation trips with the collaboration of the student conservation association in the Rainier Mountains during the 1960s and 1970s. [3] He practiced law for 10 years in Selah, Washington, north of Yakim.
