Fremantle Doctor ( born Fremantle Doctor ), also Freudoctor ( born Freo Doctor ) or simply Doctor ( born The Doctor ) is the Western Australian name for the midday sea breeze , replacing the hot northeast winds that occurs in the summer months on the west coast of Australia . On such days, the temperature drops below 30 degrees a few hours after the wind changes [1] .

During the summer months, the breeze constantly blows from the south-west along the southern part of the west coast, from noon to three in the afternoon. It can penetrate into the country for 100 kilometers, in the evening reaching the city of York . The Fremantle doctor got his name because of the fact that in the capital of the state of Western Australia, the city of Perth, it seems that the wind, which brings long-awaited relief from the high summer temperatures, is blowing from the nearby coastal city of Fremantle . The Fremantle Doctor cools the suburbs of Perth by a few degrees, while the winds closer to the coast can be quite strong (often from 15 to 20 knots). Visiting the beach during the daytime becomes quite unpleasant. On days when there is no wind, the temperature in the suburbs of Perth often exceeds 40 ° C. This is also due to the influence of a strong east wind blowing from the central desert regions of the continent.
