Geographical position

 
Municipality of Pariaman

The city is located in the west of the island of Sumatra , on the coast of the Indian Ocean . The absolute height is 21 meters above sea ​​level [1] .
Pariaman is located approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Padang , the provincial capital.

Administrative Division

The territory of the municipality of Pariaman is administratively divided into four districts ( kecamatan ), which in turn are divided into 16 rural settlements ( kelurahan ). The total area of ​​the municipality is 73.36 km².

Traditionally, agriculture (especially rice farming ) is of great importance. Rice fields occupy more than 30% of the total area of ​​the municipality.
