Weeks, Sidney

Sidney Wicks ( born September 19, 1949 , Los Angeles , California , USA ) is an American professional basketball player who played 10 seasons at the National Basketball Association for the Portland Trail Blazers , Boston Celtics and Sun Diego Clippers . " Rookie of the year NBA of 1972, as well as four-time participant in the match of all NBA stars.

Professional career

Weeks was selected at the 1971 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers Club under a common 2 number. The club paid $ 250,000 to the Cleveland Cavaliers team so that it wouldn’t choose him for the draft. He was also selected by the 1971 ABA Draft by the Dallas Chaparrels Club. In his debut season in the NBA, he averaged 24.5 points per game and made 11.5 rebounds, for which he was named the rookie of the NBA year, and was also invited to participate in the match of all NBA stars. Weeks played for the Trail Blazers from 1971 to 1976 and participated in all-star matches four times. He also was the club's record holder for the number of rebounds made per game - 27.

In October 1976, Wicks was sold to the Boston Celtics, where he stayed until 1978. After that, he moved to the San Diego Clippers, where he remained until 1981. At the end of his career in the NBA, he played for one year in the Italian Championship .

After leaving the NBA

After completing his professional career, Wicks spent a year in Italy, after which he returned to the United States. For four years he worked as an assistant to the head coach ( Walt Hazzard ) of the UCLA Bruins basketball team [1] . After that, Sydney started selling real estate, lived in Atlanta , Florida and Los Angeles . From 1973 to 1979, Weeks was married, in which he had a daughter, Shiban [2] .
