Biography

Born September 28, 1984 [6] and raised in Obninsk [7] . In 2001 he graduated from the city gymnasium [8] , where he studied in the same class as swimmer Nikolai Skvortsov [9] . In the same year he moved to Moscow [10] and entered the Faculty of History and Philology of the Russian State Humanitarian University , having received a philological diploma in 2006 [1] [5] . In addition, from October 2003 to April 2004, he studied under the program "Cultural Journalism" of the Pro Arte Institute [11] . In the same period, he worked as a proofreader in the online publication Polit.ru , in the journal Oktyabr two articles by Gorbachev were published: Displacement of Languages (No. 12, 2003) and Live Literature (No. 5, 2004) [11 ] .

Fascinated by reading the site of Nepops.ru [7] , which he considered “the best Russian-language site about music” [12] , and generally not satisfied with the state of Russian music journalism [13] , Gorbachev in February 2003 [7] created his own amateur site Muscience on hosting Yandex.People . Soon, his texts on this site were noticed by blues organizer and musician Vladimir Kozhekin, thanks to which the collaboration of the novice music critic with professional publications began [7] . At the end of the year he wrote for the man'Music newspaper, which soon ceased to exist [11] . In January 2004, Gorbachev became a columnist on the site " Sounds.ru ", where by the fall of 2005, about a hundred of his articles were published. He also collaborated with Weekly Magazine , Russian Newsweek , Play and Expert magazines, and Polit.ru website [5] [11] .

Since 2005, Gorbachev began working as a music columnist in the Afisha magazine [5] , and took the post of deputy chief editor on April 1, 2011 [14] .

Gorbachev paid special attention to beginner Russian performers, and in addition to publishing about them in the Afisha music blog, he has been curating the Gorbachev Wednesday project since 2009, in the framework of which concerts were held at the Ikra club and small disks were released on the Soyuz company label of the same name . After the club was closed in January 2011, the concert part changed its format, turning, according to the organizer, "into a nomadic ephemeral entity capable of materializing on the stage absolutely any - and in a variety of forms." Gorbachev considers the formation and strengthening of the musical niche of young musicians from Russia a prerequisite for this change [15] . In 2010, at the request of Oleg Nesterov, he was the compiler of the collection No Oil. No stress No Noise [16] , and the next year he organized the project “ Do me for sure ”, they will tribute to the Mumiy Troll group performed by artists opened by the Afisha magazine [17] .

Together with Ilya Krasilshchik, he was an editor-compiler of the book “History of Russian Media 1989-2011. Version of the “Poster” ”, released in 2011 [18] . In December of the same year, Alexander Gorbachev, like other employees of the Afisha magazine, joined the protesters on Bolotnaya Square [10] .

In July 2016, he became editor of the Special Correspondents Department on the Meduza website [19] . In January 2019, he announced his resignation from the editorial office because of the “volatile situation” that has developed in the past few months and because he “is not close to the public rhetoric of the leadership regarding what happened in the past three months” [20] .
