FC Newton Heat (Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway) in the 1889/1890 season

The 1889/90 season was the first season for the Newton Heat (Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway) club in the Football Alliance , in which the club took 8th place. The team also took part in three cup tournaments: the FA Cup and the Lancashire Cup, from which it dropped out after the first round [1] , and the Manchester Cup and the surrounding area, in which the “ pagans ” won [2] .

After the dissolution of the Combination in the previous season, a number of its participants decided to organize a new league, which was to become an alternative to the Football League of England . This league was called the Football Alliance, and it included 12 clubs. The champion of the first draw of the Football Alliance was the Wensday Club from Sheffield [3] .
