Al-Bakri Crater ( lat.Al-Bakri ) is a small impact crater on the northwestern border of the Sea of Tranquility on the visible side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the Arab geographer and historian Abu Ubaid Al-Bakri (1014-1094) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1976.

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the crater are Pliny Crater in the northeast; Ross Crater in the southeast; Crater Macleer in the south. In the north of the crater lie the Gem mountains , in the south are Maklira furrows [1] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 12.2 km [2] , depth 1.04 km [3] .
The crater has a regular circular shape with a sharp shaft edge and a flat bottom of the crater bowl without noticeable structures. The shaft height above the surrounding area is 450 m [4] , the volume of the crater is approximately 70 km³ [4] . On the bright inner slope of the crater, low albedo spots and radial bands are noticeable. To the south-south-west of the crater are the remains of two ancient craters, unofficially called "The Seagull" for its characteristic silhouette.
According to morphological characteristics, the crater belongs to the BIO type (according to the name of a typical representative of this class - the Bio crater).
Before receiving its own name in 1976, the crater had the designation Take A (in the designation of the so-called satellite craters located in the vicinity of a crater with its own name).
Satellite Craters
Are absent.
