General Information
Johanna is one of the two daughters of Gabor and Gabriella Conta; her sister's name is Emesh.
A Sydney native came to tennis with her parents - at eight years old.
The Comte family is very active in moving around the world: Johanna’s parents have Hungarian citizenship [3] and arrived in Australia shortly before the birth of their first daughter. When the craze for the Sydney native tennis was sufficiently developed, they still had to travel a lot around the world: Konta managed to train at the Sanchez Casal Academy in Barcelona , the Roddick Lavall Academy in Texas and the Weybridge Tennis Academy in the UK . In the latter, Comte attracted the attention of the LTA coaching staff, who persuaded her to accept British citizenship and her financial support.
Sports career
Comte became a British citizen in the spring of 2012, thanks to which she received a wildcard at the Wimbledon tournament, which was her first Grand Slam tournament in her career. In the first round, in a very stubborn match, Comte lost to the 28th seeded American Cristina McHale (7-6 2-6 8-10), who then reached the third round and lost to the future semifinalist Angelica Kerber .
Before the 2015 US Open, she played 7 times in the Grand Slam tournaments in the main draw of the singles and won only one match (at the US Open in 2012 against Hungarian Timey Babosh ). At the US Open 2015, Comta, having qualified, consecutively defeated American Louise Chirico (6-3 6-0), 9th seeded Spanish Garbinier Mugurusu (7-6 6-7 6-2), 18th seeded Andrea Petkovich from Germany (7-6 6-3). In the 1/8 finals, Comte lost the fifth racket of the tournament to Petra Kvitova (5-7 3-6). Kvitova in the quarterfinals in three sets lost to future champion Flavia Pennetta .

The British tennis player was even more successful at the next Grand Slam tournament - the Australian Open 2016. Having first got into the main draw of this tournament, Konta beat the 8th seeded Venus Williams (6-4 6-2), Chinese Zheng Saysai (6-2 6-3), Czech Denis Allertova (6-2 6-2), 21 The seeded Russian woman Ekaterina Makarova (4-6 6-4 8-6). Konta became the first tennis player from the UK since 1984 to reach the quarter finals of the Grand Slam singles tournament. Sydney Hard. Mid January. Johanna goes to the finals.
