The Institute of Practical Oriental Studies (IPV) is a non-governmental educational institution of higher professional education, established by the Fund for the Promotion of Oriental Studies and Science and which existed in Moscow in 1993 - 2015 . [1] .
He was the only non-state university in Russia where Oriental studies and African studies were taught.
Content
Specialization
One of the few educational institutions in Russia that specializes in teaching oriental languages.
We studied Arabic , Vietnamese , Indonesian , Chinese , Korean , Malaysian ( Malay ), Turkish , Hindi , Farsi and Japanese . There were preparatory courses.
Students at the end of the institute received the title Bachelor of Oriental Studies, Africanism. In 2007, IPV opened its own magistracy (accredited in 2009).
The Institute of Practical Oriental Studies maintained close contacts with partner universities in the East. Thanks to this, students had the opportunity to undergo language internships in the countries of the studied languages or spend the summer months there, combining classes with leisure and getting to know the country. In some countries ( Vietnam , Korea , Iran , Turkey ), IPV students traveled for free through bilateral interstate agreements of Russia.

The number of teachers is up to 30, including 5 professors and 21 associate professors [2] . Most of the teachers are graduates of the Institute of Asian and African countries of Moscow State University , some of them worked simultaneously in two institutes. The teaching activities of D.V. Mikulsky , Hulot Sirka (1935–2011), D.V. Deopik , T.V. Dorofeeva (1948-2012), V.A. Tsyganov (1936-2012), and V. were associated with IPV . N. Usova and others
Revocation of a license, reform, termination of activity
In 2014, Rosobrnadzor suspended the license of the institute, among the main violations - conducting educational activities under unlicensed programs, lack of access to the electronic library system, issuing invalid education documents, lack of compulsory teaching materials. [3]
In 2015, the Institute of Practical Oriental Studies was included in the Moscow Institute of Linguistics (currently the Moscow International Academy ) as a separate faculty. At the same time, he completely retained all of his curricula, programs and specifics of training.
In 2019, the institute’s website stated that it had no relationship with the Moscow International Academy and suspended its activities.
