Leptospermum liversidgei (lat.) Is a species of flowering plants of the Tonkosemyannik ( Leptospermum ) genus of the Myrtaceae family .

Botanical descriptionShrub up to 4 m tall. Leaves 5-7 mm long, with a characteristic lemon scent. White or pink single flowers , subsequently replaced by a woody box .
Distribution and habitatIt grows mainly in the wet coastal wastelands in the east of Australia .
Features of chemical compositionThere are two chemotypes according to the nature of the secreted essential oils :
- Citral chemotype is used as a seasoning for food, dried leaves are added to tea.
- The citronellal chemotype is used to repel mosquitoes.
Peterson's thin seedling ( Leptospermum petersonii ) emits essential oils with a similar lemon scent.
Economic value and applicationIn addition to the application described above, due to chemical characteristics, Leptospermum liversidgei is also grown as a garden ornamental plant .
